The menu is available in 15 Asda Cafés in South Wales, and features six Welsh meals for diners to choose from: Welsh Beef Cottage Pie; Macaroni Cheese; Faggots in Onion Gravy; Welsh Beef Lasagne; Chicken Curry and Welsh Beef Chilli.
Based in Hirwaun, Authentic Curries and World Foods has been cooking up meals using only the finest ingredients for over 20 years, with all of its beef farmed in the region through Celtic Pride.
Celtic Pride is formed of three of Wales' leading agri-food businesses: Celtic Pride Limited, Wynnstay Group Plc and Castell Howell Foods Ltd, to provide customers with consistently high quality, premium Welsh Beef.
Beef marketed under the Celtic Pride brand can be traced from pasture to plate and is produced and processed in Wales to meet the highest standards of quality, health, taste, flavour and safety. The scheme is unique in Wales, with over 80 farmer members following strict protocols.
Matt Trigg, Asda’s local sourcing and events manager for Wales, said: “We’re proud to champion Welsh produce, and give our customers a true taste of what Wales has to offer. The launch of a Welsh menu will support local businesses and we’re hoping to introduce more suppliers into the café in the long-term, creating more jobs in the process.”
