In support of the Welsh dairy industry, farmer-owned dairy company Arla supplies milk from cows at its Welsh farms, before its processed and packaged at Tomlinson’s Dairies, a family-owned company based in Minera, Wrexham.
Welsh cream is the latest local product to be sold, joining our 100% Welsh milk, butter and cheddar. It features Welsh language on the cartons, and will be sold alongside our 100% Welsh milk, butter and cheddar.
Asda has strong representation from the country. We have around 61 Welsh suppliers and stock over 350 local lines across our 35 Welsh stores.
Rick Banks, Asda’s senior buying manager for Wales, said: “We’re proud to champion Welsh produce. While other supermarkets may label their cream Welsh, Asda is the first to sell cream produced and packed in Wales, rather than shipping it to England to be packed. This is an added boost to the local farming community and means we have a truly Welsh supply chain for our dairy.”
